Allow the Mystery
What mystery am I talking about?
Let's call it poetry -
the stuff you first heard
in that rocker's music,
but now appreciate more
in his drug-addled stories
from a new memoir.
Let's call it the look -
her eyes recognizing in you
something hidden and alluring,
a space deep inside your heart
where no one goes willingly
unless led there by love.
Let's call it emptiness -
a quiet place to hang out
and not do much of anything,
a space where you simply are
both alive and immortal,
not lost in thought.
“We have to stop and be humble enough to understand that there is something called mystery.”
