Divine Seed

Take the world of your experience
and bring it inside of you.

In doing so you may notice,
an imprisoned God is a tyrant,
but God everywhere is ecstasy.

Now find the divine seed
entrusted to your soul
upon entering into this life.
It longs to be planted and
nurtured by your activity.

Be patient and it will sprout.
Then notice when it bears fruit,
the way your love spreads
in everything you do.

Inasmuch as love grows in you, in so much beauty grows; for love is itself the beauty of the soul.
Augustine of Hippo, Homilies on the First Epistle of John
