Do Not Invade Yourself

Do not invade yourself.
Be chastened by your experiences.
To the extent you have learned boundaries,
create them for yourself.

Our lives are like the tides,
a slow but persistent back and forth
between knowing and unknowing,
between learning and unlearning.

This day may be one of those days
when you can relax and breathe slowly,
cease all your passionate digging,
stop with your descending.

There are sacred spaces within.
Maintain their sanctity.
Leave some mystery
for this life or the next.

Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.
