Here I Am Love

Generosity will not
make you a doormat,
just as fear will not
make you a coward.

Each day arrives
with a new lesson,
and night delivers you
to the proving grounds.

Waiting every morning
on your doorstep is Love,
impatient and questioning:
Where have you been?
We’ve got so much to do.

Then a child leaps forth,
bursting out of your chest declaring:
Here I am Love!

Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone - we find it with another.
Thomas Merton
