Mile 50

At twenty,
I never doubted the ground
beneath the stories I was told.
But for me to remain a believer
I would’ve had to die young.

Now at fifty,
I tell you there’s no substitute
to your lived experience,
for awakening in the mystery
of our infinite universe.

That is the real spiritual awakening, when something emerges from within you that is deeper than who you thought you were. So, the person is still there, but one could almost say that something more powerful shines through the person.
Eckhart Tolle
