Prayer for Patience
This is a prayer for patience
because I need you…
Allow me to see the glacier melting
and to feel a shiver.
Allow me to accept the good
along with the bad.
Allow me to know happiness
in addition to my anger.
Allow me to recognize my greed
and to become more generous.
Allow me to struggle with my ego
and to embrace humility.
Allow me to laugh at my own stupidity
and not to scapegoat anyone.
Allow me to see my reflection
in those I loathe.
Allow me to grow
in wisdom and patience,
so I may embrace this world
into which I’ve been born
to share in God’s perfect love.
“Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays.”
