Until We Know
Some days we’re on different wavelengths.
This is when communication is most difficult.
So I must go inward to find good conversation.
And if I’m able to open just enough,
there will be some wisdom I can breathe aloud.
The decades grow heavy when we speak of nothing.
Let us be challenged to go deeper,
and not simply to declare our beliefs.
It’s the knowing and not the believing
that truly makes a difference in this world.
Until we know, we must lighten up.
It was when I began to ridicule and resent the old stories,
I learned literalism is only the dawning of true understanding.
Almost as suddenly, I glimpsed the transcendent.
Now I proudly declare my belonging to the Infinite.
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
