We’re All Poems
You're a poet.
You probably know it,
yet like me
have spent years
fighting it,
refusing to show it.
We're all poets,
or maybe said better,
we're all kinds of poems -
paintings and sculptures,
slow songs and quick riffs,
classical and modern dances,
styles of architecture and decor,
delicious meals and fast food,
big long hugs or fist bumps,
and all kinds of silly kisses
that say I love you.
I love you.
EPILOGUE
I had a good strategy.
I'd build giant walls,
to shut out my instincts
and keep love away.
But then came poetry,
at first like a rival from within,
but then like the true love
I can't live without.
“Every single soul is a poem.”
