Troubles

Troubles

Nothing puzzles me more.

Maybe today
I can embrace my troubles,
seeing within them
my familiar friends and foes.

If it is not my task
to confront those parts of me
that I'd rather push into a closet
or blame on the world I see,
then I really don't know
what is mine to do.

My troubles find their way
around great fortifications,
through tiny cracks
and into unlocked doors.
So why not just give them
a seat at the table?

Drag your thoughts away from your troubles...
by the ears, by the heels,
or any other way you can manage it.
Mark Twain
