Simple Gifts
We find ourselves in the place just right.
I am struggling today,
feeling as though I'm lost
and far away from the serenity
I had discovered deep within,
buried beneath the debris
of my modern, busy life.
Once discovered,
I thought it couldn't be lost.
Yet here I sit
tired and afraid,
uncertain I have the strength
to continue living
my burdensome life.
My pain and frustration are real,
still I am not left hopeless
or without the love and companionship
I so desperately need
to restore my lost perspective
and to rediscover the simple gifts
at the very core of my being.
God gave us the gift of life;
it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.
