Digital Dysphoria

Digital Dysphoria

You've got mail!

I don't want to admit anything
even though I am overwhelmed,
exhausted,
frustrated,
frightened,
and perhaps worst of all ignorant
about how the world will turn,
and how my life will unfold
within the predictable
unpredictability,
wherein a website or an app
knows my next action
better than I know myself.

We are being turned inside out
by our tools and our toys.
It's so difficult for me
to see this as anything
but a dark epoch.
Yet on a very good day
I can be persuaded that
moving through this paradigm
is the necessary next step
in our evolution.

Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.
