Sacred Thresholds
The gateways of transcendence.
The power to change flows
through teeny-tiny portals
carefully protected
by invisible guardians.
When you arrive at one
they will ask you:
What now moves
your head and your heart?
It could as easily be
something you once ate
as a book you've read
or person you've just met.
But do try to remember
all of those vital experiences
which now deliver you through
this sacred threshold.
One is struck in the study of saints, angels and gods by a pattern that seems quaint and harmless. Yet, it is so common that I know there must be a deeper meaning. There always seem to be guardians and spirits of doors, bridges, exits and entranceways.
