Bullfrog

Bullfrog

Nothing is obvious until revealed.

Your life
may be the stone
cast into a placid pond
sending ripples into
the reeds and grasses.

Or you may be
the large bullfrog
sunning in the shallows,
receiving those ripples
as an invitation
to jump into the deep.

Don't you see?
Nothing can be taken for granted -
not the rock,
not the ripples,
not the reeds,
not the bullfrog waiting.

If you could only see
the jumping bullfrog,
would you ever suspect
everything is connected?

The hidden harmony is better than the obvious.
