Love's Bounty

Love's Bounty

...is forever ripe.

When
I close my eyes,
deepen my breath,
and let go of urgency,
I can begin to see
nothing will be found
if love remains disconnected
from everything I do.

And I can see
there is no way forward
if I sort the unripe fruit
and only decorate my table
with the very best
life has to offer.

And I can also see
a life spent accumulating
from odd ends of the Earth
amounts to so little
if it does not add
to love's bounty.

There will always be something to ruin our lives,
it all depends on what or which finds us first.
We are always ripe and ready to be taken.

~ Charles Bukowski
