We the Unknown

We the Unknown

...are pleased to meet you.

The world is full
of unknown people,
you and I among them.

Sure a few know us
and will smile back
when we smile at them.
Yet except for those few
no one pays much attention
to how we spend our days.

In the spaces we occupy
there is a sacred anonymity
allowing us to focus our energy
beyond what we know through self,
and to bring a unique perspective
into the world we all inhabit.

Not by being known,
but by getting to know ourselves,
do we see in everyone and everything
those we've been waiting to meet.

Each friend represents a world in us,
a world not born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting
that a new world is born.
