In the Blue

In the Blue

...drift of uncertainty.

She was feeling blue,
so I thought I'd cheer her up
by urging her to be gentle with herself,
and sharing one of my misadventures
demanding I learn to let go.

Then we both rolled over
slowly surrendering to sleep.
Yet my words lingered in the air,
and found purchase in my dreams.

The next day I felt uneasy,
as though I was standing on a rock
far away from the shore of certainty,
out toward the infinite horizon.

We sail within a vast sphere,
ever drifting in uncertainty,
driven from end to end.
~ Blaise Pascal
