Community

...is the manifestation of true connection.

On the darkest night
I saw a flash of light
as my soul awakened
to birth the poet within.

I dreamt a waking dream
of death and destruction,
then fell fast asleep
allowing that darkness
to show me the light.

Letting go is not easy.
It requires much more
than a stiff drink,
a shock of gray hair,
or the harsh slap
of bitter reality.

I only began to fall
when I actually fell.
So now when I tell you
I can no longer shoulder
the weight of responsibility
for everything and everyone,
you will know that by stumbling,
I discovered a sincere humility
and a deep desire for community.
