The Crescendo
The Crescendo
...that great run of notes.
I've seen a piano with toes
carved onto claw-like feet,
ready and at the waiting
for that great run of notes
which will loosen its varnish skin
allowing it to leap off the stage,
and like the specter of a jaguar
paralyze onlookers in their seats.
The gifted virtuoso must then
struggle and fight the beast,
coaxing him back on stage
by soothing the hardwood body
and gently tapping the ivory keys
so as not to also awaken
the elephant in search of his tusks.
Each song is a small universe to me. Each song has a story of its own. Each has a full life to express in order to be complete, so it often happens that the building to a big crescendo feels right in the recording or writing process.
