The Real You

Some questions and clues...

I may never know
the real you,
the silent you,
the you who come out
behind closed doors
where no one else can see.

Does the dog know the real you?
What about the neighbor's cat
who always shows up unexpectedly?
And what about the trees,
especially the ones you've sat beneath
and admired during your long walks,
do they know the real you?

The moon stirs the water
and caresses something in you
much deeper than you realize.
That's the real you.
