Let Stillness Ask the Questions

Let Stillness
Ask the Questions

It will ask.

The modern world
is a megaphone
shouting at us
from all directions.

Many will try
but simply don't have
the capacity to care,
or even to know about
all the crazy things
happening on our planet.

Deep in our DNA
is written this instruction:

Leave me the eff alone!
Gimme some peace and quiet
that I may come to know
and come to grow
slowly, experientially
like the rivers and trees.

So let's stop all the noise,
stop all the movement,
stop pretending
everything happening
is improving our lives.

Let stillness ask the questions.
Then allow stillness to answer.

I said to my soul, be still and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith, but the faith and the love are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.
T. S. Eliot
