Good Metaphor

Good Metaphor

Strong medicine.

The better the metaphor
the weaker I am
to resist its power.

God whispers
such profound wisdom
to all the listening poets.
Some savor.
Some share.
And others shun.

Look and listen.
What you fail to notice
in practice and experience
will find you in metaphor,
revealing all the mysteries
you've paid great sums
to avoid knowing.

There are few things as toxic as a bad metaphor.
You can't think without metaphors.
Mary Catherine Bateson

God is a metaphor for that which transcends
all levels of intellectual thought.
It's as simple as that.
Joseph Campbell
