Oblivion

Oblivion

An ode to letting go of the past.

I can longer ignore
as I can no longer deny
the soul deep memories
connecting me to losses
now also lost to time.

There's a sound my soul makes
when remembering something
I thought long forgotten.

This great yowling halts
the hollowing out of my soul
by that radioactive dust
called forgetting.

My soul cannot forgive
and it cannot forget.
It must remember
to let go.

The richness of life lies
in memories we have forgotten.
~ Cesare Pavese
