Who'm I Kidding?
I never had a plan.
I no longer hold the illusion
my life will ever unfold,
the way I thought it would.
Maybe it's because
so little has happened
I was told to expect,
I'm now ready to let go
of any certainty.
And it could be
that had my life gone
according to some plan,
it would've required me
to compromise my soul
and remain a child.
To defer to someone else's definition
of a life well-lived is a Faustian bargain.
