Peace Now

Peace Now

...in this fire.

It's always something.
Isn't it?

I mean the moments are few
when nothing's happening,
when nothing's changing,
and there's nothing to worry about.

Someone please remind me
to relish all the boring days,
even though it may become
easy to lose my sense of God
in the sameness.

Peace is
the increasingly rare gift
of monotonous and empty time,
- time to watch the sun rise,
and watch the grass grow
before the sun sets.

If there's only one thing
bringing me closer to the stillness
and to the peace now in this fire,
it's my growing understanding of a God
much bigger than I ever imagined.

 The cost of my desire...
