It's in the Middles
...where we all must live.
Take the superlatives.
You can have them.
I don't want 'em,
don't need 'em here
where I'm living
in-between.
I hope for the best,
often fear the worst,
yet would much rather
compromise for the good,
or even the not-so-bad.
Would that I could so easily
let go of my life preserver
and calmly float upon
life's endless waves
from top to bottom,
and back up again.
It is in middles that extremes clash,
where ambiguity restlessly rules.
