River Wisdom

River Wisdom

...flows within us.

I go to the River
and the River says,
Come closer,
I know you.

I say,
Great River,
I have been here before.

The River responds,
I am the same water
flowing through your veins.
But don't try to tame me,
as your world has tamed you.

I ask the River,
How can I cross
to your other side?

The River says,
Don't try to swim me,
you'll be pulled under.
And don't take all my water,
I'll just go underground.
Ask your soul to build a boat,
then gently go with my flow.

The river flows at its own sweet will, but the flood is bound in the two banks. If it were not thus bound, its freedom would be wasted.
