Slow Dancing

Slow Dancing

...requires music and time.

I call to those spirits
who like to move slowly
like an earthworm.

I ask them to pour
their mystical sand
into the human gears
grinding and whirling,
driving everyone crazy
at ever faster speeds
towards something
akin to death.

Yes I need time away
from industrious activity
to recharge and reorient
the wayward spirit within.
My soul wants community
but this world we're creating
is displacing all of us into
silos of individuality.

I remembering those signs
reading Closed Sundays,
and waiting and watching
for the trains to pass.

Do you remember
the winter weather
keeping you inside,
with nowhere to go
and nothing to do?

Do your remember
having a big question
and not being able to find
a quick or easy answer?

If you do not change direction,
you may end up where you are heading.
~ Laozi
