Circles

Circles

...concentric, overlapping...

These days I keep sayin'
there's nothing I must do.

And this of course is true.
Of all those things I believed
were required of me:

the learning,
the earning,
the spending,
the defending,
the climbing,
and the denying,

none of them were needed
or even necessary.

As I learn my true place
and take my seat within
the unbroken circle of life,
I find a new list of things
that are mine to do:

letting go and loving,
steadily descending and bending
toward the humble ground,
singing, dancing, and celebrating
the beauty and the belonging
of everyone and everything.

I don't believe that life is linear.
I think of it as circles -
concentric circles that connect.
