The Infinitude

The Infinitude

...of love and being...

There's just enough of me
and just enough of you
to go around even though
we alone are not infinite.

Some days I cannot tell
whether my glass
is truly half-full,
or maybe half-empty.

I wonder:

Am I pouring my life
into the infinite?

Or is the infinite
pouring into me?

I woke last night
frightened by the dark,
in which the infinite seemed
to be staring right at me.

When I woke again
morning had come,
and the darkness lifted
to reveal my finite world.

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake,
not by mechanical aid,
but by an infinite expectation of the dawn.
~ Henry David Thoreau

No finite point has meaning
without an infinite reference point.
~ Jean-Paul Sartre

If a thing loves,
it is infinite.
~ William Blake
