Moon Hanging
Moon Hanging
...behind the art is a wisdom...
A distant poet
sings to the moon
he's placed in one
of a billion night skies.
Until just now I'd forgotten
how many skies there are,
and how many faces glow
upon the moon's surface.
I've been ready
to let others decide
in which night sky
to hang my moon.
I've been ready
to bury my starry soul
beneath the busy work
I thought I must do.
Let's go back to dreaming
about all the celestial bodies,
and all those distant skies
overwhelming the limitations
of what we once thought
it meant to be alive.
When you feel your lips becoming infinite
and sweet, like the moon in a sky,
when you feel that spaciousness inside,
Shams of Tabriz will be there too.
