Bulls**t Jobs
Bulls**t Jobs
...abound.
There's plenty of work,
and yet still too few jobs
paying anything more than
the cost of doing them.
Look around.
See all the busy work,
the minimum wage positions,
the service jobs with hard ceilings
and nowhere to go but skid row.
Most blame the workers
and not the economic system
creating these bullshit jobs
that hold so little purpose,
and insufficient remuneration
to support even the individual
doing all the work.
It's truly a disgrace
to our so-called enlightenment
we cannot see our busy work
is destroying this planet,
while also creating disparities
threatening our very existence.
How have we forgotten
that to be human
is to be of this Earth,
and not simply on it?
Before work
was an empty obligation,
before work defined us,
there was a simpler doing
that could be cruel and mean
and only about survival.
But it led us to this day
when we may now consider
endless new possibilities
for the ways we'd want
to work and live.
It’s hard to imagine a surer sign that one is dealing
with an irrational economic system
than the fact that the prospect of eliminating drudgery
is considered to be a problem.
