Breathe Me Back to Life

Breathe me back to life.
This is my prayer today.

I close my eyes while imagining
the great lungs of our loving mystery
drawing in deeply from the blue waves,
before slowly turning back toward me,
spreading a life-giving mist across the land,
over the mountains and the trees.

I am renewed by the breath of our creator,
cast out in all directions then pulled
magnetically to the ground of my being.

God’s breath goes in all directions.
It may blow with destructive force,
until becoming conspicuously absent.
I prefer a slow and steady breeze.

I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart. I am. I am. I am.
