By Loving Small Things

How can I ever love
something so large as God?

I do so by loving small things,
through which I discover connection
to the whole of everything.

Allowing myself to become rooted
has since taken me to depths
I had never imagined.

In going downward,
concentrating my love and attention,
I have unwittingly stumbled
onto everything.

Lantern in hand,
I searched for you last night.
