Let the Mystery Be
God is the one who tells me
to be gentle with myself,
and then offers me relationships
so that I may learn to trust
in a greater wisdom.
Though I’ve become more patient
and have recovered the love within,
many stubborn questions remain.
Why is it each morning I awake
to a world begging for my attention?
All I can do is take a deep breath
and wade slowly into my work.
But then I imagine my ancestors
scanning the horizon at sunrise,
looking for clues in the rocks and trees,
bickering about the magic in this world.
I may never have any answers,
especially for my toughest questions.
Yet I feel much better knowing
that with each asking comes
the possibility I may meet God.
“In the long run, the sharpest weapon of all is a kind and gentle spirit.”
