Thursday Poem

Thor’s Day comes weekly,
the sun arriving by chariot
and heralded by thunder.

On this day the dawn is ignited
by a spark from the Norseman’s hammer
clanging against his anvil.

There’s no special verse for Thursdays.
The main idea is to keep this day open -
free from work commitments,
knowing Friday is imminent.

The weekend fast approaches,
but it has not yet arrived.
When it does come,
you don’t want it to find you
burdened and unprepared.

So make sure to finish
whatever it is you’re doing today.
Saturday will be expecting you.

I wish you a tolerable Thursday. That’s all any of us can hope for.
