Libera Animam Tuam

I want you to leave behind
the part of you that must know.
Your soul is not a subject
for rigorous scientific study.

You must create space
for pain and uncertainty,
as well as for the mystery
through which divine alchemy
transforms your wounds.

Spare me the reams of data.
I don’t need more analytics.
There’s no secret formula
equal to the power of love.

Though finding answers
is so profoundly seductive,
the only way to free your soul
is surrender to the unknown.

Let your soul stand cool and composed before a million universes.
Walt Whitman
