Universality

Have you glimpsed this world
through the eyes of another?

Can you imagine appreciating life
unfiltered by your experiences?

Are you able to transcend what you know,
or what you think you know
and have been taught?

My own experience of the weather seems universal,
yet all I must do is look around me
and I will see it is not.

Children and dogs love the snow
as most adults never will.
Ducks and desert dwellers love the rain
much more than picnickers and baseball fans.
One person’s heaven is another’s misery.

What I’m trying to say is that none of us
sees the world as it truly is,
but only as we are.

We have too few words for universality.
The familiar ones are God, infinite, love,
or even wow, and thank you.

Love is the affinity which links and draws together the elements of the world... Love, in fact, is the agent of universal synthesis.
