Peace and Stillness

Peace and stillness
seem to be intertwined.

I can’t expect this world
to become silent or still,
for me to be at peace.

Rather when I become still,
a sublime peace wells up,
emanating from deep within.

Maybe it’s just too obvious.
Or maybe it’s too easy.
Yet it’s only when I slow down,
breathe consciously,
and gaze with subtlety,
a feeling of well-being arises
in unimaginable abundance.

Wellbeing is attained by little and little, and nevertheless is no little thing itself.
