Someday I Will Ascend
Someday I will ascend
to those brilliant stars
I can only see shining
when I am in the desert.
Until my human departure,
I am tasked to know my life
only from a single perspective,
not grappling with my bewilderment
at the billions of stars
twinkling in the night sky.
There is an amazing grace
in surrendering my will
to the infinite beauty
above me and everywhere.
I live in this daily tension,
between my desire to be free
and my complete dependency
on our mysterious Universe.
“Whatever universe a professor believes in must at any rate be a universe that lends itself to lengthy discourse. A universe definable in two sentences is something for which the professorial intellect has no use. No faith in anything of that cheap kind!”
