Two Doors

Two Doors

Give yourself an out
and others an in.

I cannot guard
two doors.
I also need light
and fresh air,
so I open windows.

Everybody knows
the back door
is my broken heart
and it sits wide open.
This is how they enter
and where most often
they find me waiting
to share my love.

Even though I keep
my front door locked,
those brave enough
to come ring the bell
will hear the laughter
through open windows
and eventually wander
around back.

Love unlocks doors and opens windows
that weren't even there before.
