Awake My Soul

Awake My Soul

Sit still and be ready.

Why is it you tell me
fantastic stories and riddles
I can barely understand?

I'm talking to You,
my soul,
that familiar voice
often appearing suddenly
from somewhere mysterious
when I am calm and silent.

I can sometimes summon you
with tea and sacred poetry,
yet you only communicate
in your own unique voice.

Still I trust you
as I have never trusted
even my own voice,
because you carry an ember
lit by the spark
that created our universe.

All I have seen teaches me
to trust the creator for all I have not seen.
