Heartbeat

Heartbeat

A step in time...

I glimpse my dog
as he restlessly spins about
unable to find a comfortable spot
where he can lie undisturbed
by all the traveling nonsense
only twelve inches off the ground.

For all those days I too
cannot find a place of peace,
I will take comfort
in the ageless wisdom
quietly reassuring me
nothing needs my doing
and that my heartbeat
is already fast delivering me
to the Creator.

My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet.
