My Body

My Body

Where I live.

My body is finally
speaking up for itself,
letting me know
which muscle is which,
where the tendons connect,
and my stomach's
least favorite recipes.

I'm getting better
at listening to my body.
He's saying to me,
I will not last forever,
but I may linger a bit longer
if you spend some time
fully embodied with me.

So I consent to grow older
by feeling those sensations
I once ignored and refused,
and by letting my body show me
that when one beauty fades
another one blossoms.

There is more wisdom in your body
than in your deepest philosophy.
Friedrich Nietzsche
