Enlightenment

Enlightenment

Don't overthink it.

A day spent lazily
is a beautiful thing.
There's a fuzziness to it
from the moment it begins,
all the way to the memories
which can never harden
into absolute truth.

Those urgent days
may invite me to focus
and tempt me with the clarity
demanded from God on Sundays,
yet I will only understand truth
as the flames of uncertainty
push me into the fire.

I love clarity
like I love modern design
and philosophies of enlightenment.
Still none of this stirs my soul
like the blur of waking
in an unfamiliar place where
time is measured by change.

The real meaning of enlightenment is to gaze
with undimmed eyes on all darkness.
