No Reason

No Reason

...nor a good explanation.

There is no reason
the sky is blue
and not green.

There is no reason
the ocean is far way
and this land a desert.

There is no reason
I am who I am
and not who I'd rather be.

There is no reason
the things happening now
are not as I'd like to see.

There is no reason,
not any you or I
would accept in finality
for the way things are,
and none whatsoever
which could encompass
the truly universal meaning
we assign to God.

Sometimes reason
makes for easy explanations.
In all else we must come
to a deeper knowing.

Faith consists in believing when
it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
Voltaire
