Nothing I Must Do

Nothing I Must Do

Amen!

When I am cornered,
at the end of my rope,
feeling trapped,
with nowhere to go,
and all out of clichés
to describe my predicament,
I take some solace knowing
there is nothing I must do.

As I absorb the literal truth
contained in these words,
I let go of my breath
after which a weight is lifted
and I become grateful
for whatever will be done.

He does not seem to me
to be a free man
who does not sometimes do nothing.
~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
