The Treasure
The Treasure
...always found somewhere in the abyss.
With each passing year
we are called to give
ever more of ourselves,
even though we may be
less willing to do so.
Time flies by
until suddenly we realize
the very preciousness
of each and every moment.
How else can we explain
the time we stood alone
in the empty parking lot
unable to remember
where we parked our car?
What we once gave wastefully
to our youth,
to our job,
and to the endless desire
for something more,
we must now give,
willingly and judiciously,
using the wisdom we have gleaned
within the deep reserves of love
we always stumble into.
In such a porcelain life,
one likes to be sure that all is well
lest one stumble upon one's hopes
in a pile of broken crockery.
