Gone Native

Gone Native

Don't we all spring from this earth?

I am native to this Earth
and to the particular places
where I've been known to roam,
and even to act so wildly
a frightened onlooker
might call me a savage.

I've never gone native
because I simply am native,
right down to my naked soul
underneath these clothes,
so joyfully at home
in my body.

One's native land!
There should one live!
There die!
~ Jules Verne
