Fully Alive

Fully Alive

...is this green, green earth.

The first line of this poem
is lying forgotten somewhere
between this world and the next,
on a piece of paper in my mind,
written by an invisible hand
I dreamt into existence
while asleep.

Now awake,
I can't quite remember
how that first line went,
though it seemed to me
like the perfect opening
for a soulful poem about
this green, green earth
being fully alive.

When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it...
~ William Blake ~ Laughing Song

Green is the prime color of the world,
and that from which its loveliness arises.
~ Pedro Calderon de la Barca
