Shadow Boxing

...with the inevitable.

Gobsmacked
right before bed,
I'm kept awake
a few moments longer
to ponder this wisdom:
nothing changes
if nothing changes.

Slowly I'm realizing
my own powerlessness
within our collective inability
to do what needs doing,
as it arises from my reluctance
and our combined unwillingness
to face the shadows.
